Fresh Patch Company Offers All-Wood Sleeves for Disposable Real-Grass Dog Potties
On August 1st, 2014, the Fresh Patch Company will offer all-wood, optional outer sleeves, which are designed to hold its 16×24 inch real-grass, fully disposable dog potty units. The reusable sleeves are intended to ward off the chewing behavior of some high-energy puppies and dogs.
According to a Company spokesperson, Fresh Patch disposable, real-grass dog potties–which are intended for dogs up to 25 pounds–are made from very sturdy material. However, we know that some dogs, and especially puppies, like to chew everything in sight. Many of our clients need our disposable dog potties for house-training young dogs, and we want to offer them a product that is virtually puppy-proof.
The Company says it has received very positive feedback from customers about the hydroponic grass it sells. The grass is light-weight, dirt-free, highly absorbent, and its scent naturally attracts dogs. The only suggestion some customers have made is that we should find a way to reinforce the sides of our disposable potty units for chew-loving pups. We decided to act on that feedback, and we developed the new protective sleeves for those customers who want them.
In addition to its 16×24 inch disposable, real-grass potty unit and optional sleeve for small-to-medium size dogs, the Fresh Patch Company is now offering products for larger dogs. The Company recently announced that, starting June 1, it will sell 2×4 foot hydroponic grass pads for dogs over 25 pounds. A stainless-steel tray designed specifically to hold these larger grass pads is also available separately, as an optional purchase. Alternatively, dog owners may decide to use the grass with or without their own containers.
With nation-wide shipping capabilities via Fedex, the Fresh Patch Companys website (http://www.freshpatch.com) offers a continuous delivery service for both its 16×24 inch real-grass disposable dog potty units and its new 2×4 foot real-grass pads. Both products feature hydroponic grass. The Companys products are also available on Amazon.com.

A Dog Training Lesson
Are you looking for some dog training tips? Perhaps you have some dog problems that you just can’t figure out how to handle. Maybe you’re in the middle of training a puppy. Training dogs can be frustrating and a lot of hard work, but it is so worthwhile.
I’m by no means an expert in dog training. But through my many years on this earth I have always had dogs in my life. Most of them have been rescue dogs. I would suggest rescue dogs for anyone interested in getting a new dog. It’s a wonderful feeling and you will never regret it.
Now, on to the purpose of this article and this short dog training course. Over the years I’ve tried many different dog training techniques to deal with dog problems that I’ve encountered. Many times with rescue dogs, especially older rescue dogs, they might have some bad habits that their previous owner just didn’t want to deal with. Those are the dogs I love to take because they end up being so lovable and sweet once you deal with the dog problem.
One dog training technique that has been very successful for me has been something so simple and yet so effective.
What I do is take a small tin can and put a few pennies in it. Sometimes I will have a few cans around the house so they are handy when I need them.
When your dog exhibits a behavior that is not welcomed, just give the can a shake and at the same time say “No!” This catches the dog’s attention and startles them. They don’t like the sound of the pennies in the can, and after doing this a few times, you’ll see that the unwanted behavior stops. So what you are doing is conditioning the dog to know that when they do the unwanted behavior, they will hear this noise that they don’t like, and therefore after a few times they will stop the behavior. After a few times, you won’t even have to use the can but only say “No!” and they will stop the unwanted behavior.
This is why I have a few cans around the house because you want them handy so you can shake the can immediately when the dog is doing the unwanted behavior.
I’ve used this technique on a number of dog problems that I’ve had through the years. It’s been especially helpful in stopping dogs from barking too much. One of my dogs was a very yappy dog until I tried this technique. After a few shakes of the can, he now does not bark all the time and is much more pleasant to be around.
Another dog problem I’ve handled with this technique is a disgusting behavior of eating their own feces. I know, so disgusting. Two of my dogs now have done this in the past and I was so happy when this technique worked for them. I would have to watch them while they were outside for a few days and keep a window open. Then when they started going toward their own feces with an eye to eating it, I would shake the can from the window and that was enough to stop them. It only took a few times.
I hope you will try this technique and let me know if it works for you. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
Also, I have found another great dog training book that has some great simple ideas to help with dog problems that you might want to try. The title is Secrets to Dog Training, formerly known as SitStayFetch. It’s a great resource, PLUS you get six bonus books with it.
Fresh Patch Applauds Announcement of The Weather Channels New Therapy Dog
Fresh Patchmaker of the real-grass, disposable dog pottyjoins with many other dog-friendly Americans in welcoming The Weather Channels new therapy dog, Butler.
For several months, The Weather Channel has been conducting a search for a therapy dog that will bear its name, and will travel as its emissary to places struck by natural disasters. Chosen from five finalists, Butler will be an ambassador for both The Weather Channel and for the American Humane Association, which worked together in this effort.
A young shepherd mix, Butler was rescued from the Humane Society of Charlotte, North Carolina. Butler will be trained by Amy McCullough, the National Director of Animal-Assisted Therapy for the American Humane Association. McCullough says that she will train Butler at her home in Colorado, with the goal of registering him as a therapy dog in time for the storm season this spring.
Hurricane Sandy and other natural disasters have shown that therapy dogs can be a valuable aid to individuals and families who are experiencing tremendous loss. A therapy dog can be a source of comfort and hope. According to McCullough, The Weather Channel will be keeping its viewers posted on Butlers training, and will follow his service as a therapy dog. Updates will be posted on Butlers Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/therapydogbutler
Like other fans of The Weather Channel, the Fresh Patch Company has been captivated by the stations search for a therapy dog, and was glad to see that Butler was given the important role. Our company was just one of many Weather Channel viewers who found the process engaging. Because we are a dog-focused company, we like to applaud programs and events that recognize the enormous contributions dogs make to people and to society, says a Fresh Patch spokesperson.
Tips on Training Your Dog
Training your dog at home may be one of the most rewarding activities known to pet owners. Just seeing your pet respond to cues and commands can bring immense satisfaction, because you will see concrete results from all of your training efforts.
Pet owners who are just starting out with their training sessions will often encounter small problems that can directly impede the progress of the dog. If your dog is not responding to more classical training approaches, you may want to try clicker training. Clicker training (or operant conditioning), emphasizes the relationship between target actions and rewards.
Since the association between rewards and actions are continually reinforced during training sessions, dog trainers have minimal problems when teaching their dogs new tricks. Clicker training is so simple that it can even be done by a ten-year–old child.
There are two indispensable elements that must always be present during clicker training: the clicker, and the treats. Some people offer toys, and even verbal praise, as treats. But for the purpose of quickly getting your dog’s attention, I highly recommend that you find a tasty treat that your dog will not mind eating again and again.
Expert tips for trainers
If the dog is not following your commands, it is possible that the dog has yet to establish a solid connection between the command, and the action itself. Review the lesson and repeat the cycles to see if the dog is responding to the nonverbal cues.
If the nonverbal cues are not working, that means the dog has made no association between the action and any signal. Go back to square one, and repeat the association games. Use the clicker to mark the target behaviors during the action, and not after.
Verbal signals can be added to the training equation only when the dog has become an expert in responding to nonverbal commands. Nonverbal commands are easier to master than verbal commands (this is why some folks who use classical conditioning often have a difficult time teaching the simplest of actions).
Training sessions should not be drawn out and boring. Ten minutes is already a long session for an active dog who has never been trained before. During the first few sessions, limit your training timeframe to just three minutes. If the dog responds well to the clicker training, it can probably complete 20 successful cycles in three to five minutes.
Don’t be harsh with your pet if it does not immediately respond to your commands. Review the information signal (the cue), and check to see if the dog has made the association between the cue, and action itself. If the dog looks unmotivated, the problem may lie in the reward that you are offering. Change the reward and see if the dog will respond.
Punishment should be limited to a neutrally toned word such as “wrong”. Don’t scold your pet for not understanding. It doesn’t help the animal learn, and the animal may associate training sessions with being scolded. That is never a good thing for home-trained dogs.
Dog Training: Top 10 Things You Should Teach Your Dog First
There are a lot of ways by which people learn about things; learning by reading books, by working under someone experienced, etc. There is another way to learn of which a very few people know about, and that method is to learn by the videos specially made to explain a particular fact. There are ways by which people understand things better so that they do not forget them, like a school student reads his book while he is walking, or some read in a quiet place, some who doesnt get the facts by reading may learn fast when they listen about the thing, but the best way to learn is to experience that particular thing so that everyone could get an exact picture. We all know that learning things practically is not possible in all the cases, so, there are some firms who have come up with an idea of making people learn by showing them the illustrative videos for anything.
These companies provide training for various purposes for example the negotiation skills training, or the management skills, communication skills, customer service skills, the assessment tools etc. several of the important topics are covered by these firms in order to ensure that their clients get everything they need! These firms makes most of their videos with the real life things, say for example if we take the ken blanchard training in this video, ken Blanchard has used the killer whales to show how to be more productive and how to achieve greater results and also to create such a working environment where everyone would like to work. Well, surely the killer whales have no relationship with creating a happier and highly productive working environment, but these videos proves that there is logic in everything and we can learn from everything. But it is just that we cannot understand until someone tells us. There is a great deal that we can learn from these videos.
We might or might not get these videos in our local market, but if we want to watch those videos than we can buy them on the internet. Most of these firms have their own websites so that they can reach customers from any part of the world. One only needs to search for the appropriate firm and then they can buy their videos online. It is believed that the best way to learn is through experience, but this cannot be possible in every case, so these videos will surely give a virtual experience so that we will learn well.
